The Mail on Sunday printed a large feature in the property section on March 1st about Madeira, dispelling myths that the island is for oldies. Journalist Fred Redwood states that “resort communities such as Palheiro Village, a developer of 85 flats and villas which is due for completion next month, are very popular with incomers”. The resorts facilities are noted, highlighting it’s the appeal to “golfers and golf widows”. Fred also notes that Madeira isn’t just a holiday home destination, and case study Anne Marchington who lives on the island with her twin boys is pictured and quoted on every-day life. Palheiro offers shades of Augusta National with its landscaping and stunning flora.
Palheiro is firmly about visitors gaining maximum enjoyment from their golfing experience. Generous fairways and greens combine with wonderful natural undulations, umbrella pines and flowers to create a truly lovely course. This pleasant design philosophy is also seen on many courses in Iberia as the designer, Cabell B. Robinson, has created dozens of layouts in Andalucía and the Algarve. There’s even a Michelin – starred chef overseeing the clubhouse restaurant and balcony views you’d normally need to take a trip in a cable car to enjoy.
Cheryl Markosky writes that “Madeira has long been popular with the British and it’s not hard to see why” in the Daily Mail on February 20th. She outlines the benefits of buying on “this delightful island” and properties available, including the Palheiro Village. One of the owners of a Palheiro Village is quoted about enjoying his property and time spent on the island.
