Casa Velha do Palheiro was originally built in 1801 as the hunting lodge and summer residence of João Esmeraldo, the first Count of Carvalhal. It was purchased by the Blandy family in 1885 and through the generations, has evolved from a farming estate into a world class leisure destination, now part of the Relais & Chateaux collection of hotels of ‘unique character and exceptional customer service.’
Journey times of the direct flights from 13 airports in the UK take just over three hours to Funchal. Airlines include easyJet, TAP Portugal, First Choice, Thomsonfly and Thomas Cook.
