Chef André Magalhães
André Magalhães is the owner and head chef at Taberna da Rua das Flores in Lisbon. He was a chef at the prestigious Clube de Jornalistas - Restaurant and is a consultant at the Omali Lodge in São Tomé, where he is implementing a gastronomic sustainability programme. In partnership, he reopened the historic Quiosque in São Paulo and Antiga Camponesa in Santa Catarina.
As a journalist he writes about gastronomy and wine, collaborating with various national and foreign publications. He is a member of FIJEV - International Federation of Wine Journalists and Writers, and an international judge in wine and olive oil competitions. In 2012 he won the "Taster Trophy", which honours the best tasters at the Brussels World Competition. Personality of the Year in Gastronomy 2015 by "Wine" magazine.
He has a postgraduate degree in Gastronomic Sciences and teaches on the Master's programme in Gastronomic Sciences at FCT/ISA. An advocate of sustainable products and rural life, he actively participates in the Slow Food movement and the Confraternity of Oenophiles and Gastronomes of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
Chef Gonçalo Bita Bota
Chef Gonçalo Bita Bota, born in Lisbon but raised in the Alentejo, has a strong passion for local ingredients, sustainability and seasonal food.
With many years' experience in various hotels and restaurants in London, the Loire Valley, France, Lisbon and the Algarve, he is currently Executive Chef at Palheiro Nature Estate, in charge of the Casa Velha do Palheiro Restaurant and the Vista Balancal Restaurant in the Palheiro Golf Clubhouse.
